Eaton
Automotive Chemical Company
has been packaging and distributing automotive products
since 1932.
The company was founded by Hudson Eaton and is now owned
and managed by second and third generations of the Eaton
family.
Originally started as a wholesale oil distributor
selling to trucking companies, construction companies
and new car dealers the company expanded into automotive
chemical products after WWII. Specializing in
maintenance and cleaning products, its customer base
expanded to include wholesale automotive distributors
and warehouses.
In the sixties, the company entered the retail
aftermarket, selling its Bodyguard brand of corrosion
and appearance products to new and used car dealers.
Throughout the seventies and early eighties, the company
expanded throughout the U.S., Canada, and several
foreign countries.
By the early eighties, the company counted nearly two
thousand new car dealers as customers, selling over a
half million contracts annually.
In the mid eighties, the Bodyguard division was sold to
a group of Investors in Columbus, Ohio and Eaton Oil Co.
was retained by the Eaton family, continued to
manufacture and distribute appearance and maintenance
products.
In 1999, the company made the decision to re-enter the
retail aftermarket, selling its "Show & Shine Protection
System" to new and used car dealer customers. Initially
starting in Florida and the Northeast United States, the
company intends to expand nationwide within the next
five years.
The company has its packaging plant Canton, Ohio and
sales offices in Ohio and Florida.
